A very successful workshop was held on 16th October, where members had the unique opportunity to paint portraits in oils, under the guidance and tuition of David Cobley RP NEAC RWA, member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
They painted tonal & colour portraits. The key principles taught were that a portrait is essentially a form in space & likeness depends less on the colour of eyes and hair, and more on the structure of the skull and the relationships between the major features. David encouraged a bold, direct approach, with the emphasis on sculpting the head in paint. The workshop was enjoyed by all.
