Our demonstrator this evening was our Vice Chair Person, Tony Batey, a self taught maritime painter. Tony began the session by sketching a schooner. He then worked on a second picture, using acrylics to add details to a schooner. Finally, Tony worked on a third picture, painting more details to include the sea.
Tony worked with great enthusiasm and his demo was very well received by members. It was a very enjoyable evening & there have been many requests for him to do another demo soon.
Tony has previously had work accepted by the Royal Society of Marine Artists and recently for the Welsh Artist of the year.
More of his work can be seen on

Before the demonstration on 26th November, a Special General Meeting was held, and it was agreed to increase the annual subscription only to £35, rather than to £40, as agreed at the last AGM.
